Being able to see those "A-ha!" moments, when we connect and travel to another classroom to learn is breathtaking. Students who are exposed to these type of experiences definitely have an opportunity to enhance their learning... Thank you Skype in the classroom!Mrs. Cadena

We were studying the weather. My class skyped the weather presenter from TV3 news, here in New Zealand. She answered our research questions, and we all sang her a thank you song at the end as a way of saying thank you! The children loved the whole Skype experience!Mr L's class

Yesterday we had a phenomenal call with Celine Cousteau. I had a 15 minute call with her before hand, as a diver talking to a Cousteau was pretty cool. When we connected with the class she stayed with us for an hour, showing videos and telling stories, what a blast! She is amazing!Mr Grabowski

Skype Session with Christopher Tozier (USA), author of the award-winning Olivia Brophie series.
I had arranged a Skype session for class 4 on 22nd Jan 2014, with Christopher Tozier who lives in Orlando, Florida USA and is the author of the award-winning Olivia Brophie series for children. His first novel, Olivia Brophie and the Pearl of Tagelus, is set in the Florida scrub and is widely taught in schools. World’s Around Us is the free curriculum developed by scientists and educators around the country for use with the book.
The sequel, Olivia Brophie and the Sky Island was released on January 1, 2014.
Christopher Tozier was awarded the 2011 Individual Artist Fellowship from the State of Florida. A Little Book of Light History published by YellowJacket Press is his first volume of poetry.
Christopher Tozier is also an active blogger, featuring photography and writing based on life in the Florida scrub. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
It was an interactive session. Students asked questions about his book and what inspired him to be an Author? They also talked about his upcoming book, as they watched the trailer of his book before the session. He encouraged students for writing and discussed some important features of writing. He appreciated our students behavior and accepted the request to read stories written by our students and will give them suggestions also. It is an honor for our branch (Beaconhouse School System) to work with an award winning author.
