This was an absolutely spectacular experience! Jon Tait interacted with our first grade students in a delightful manner and geared it in a way in which the children could relate. They were mesmerized and so excited! We felt like he was right there in the room with us! Jon's enthusiasm and dedication to sharing his experience and educating students are very evident, and much appreciated! Thanks for such a wonderful opportunity.Flag report
Wow, what a great experience for our 2nd graders. Jon was wonderful with the students and they were mesmerized. The kids just hung on every word as Jon told them about his experience in great detail on just the right level. They loved asking him questions! We have been learning about the olympics and spent some time researching the torch, which made our visit with Jon that much more special! Thank you SO much for your time and dedication!
Today we were lucky enough to take part in Jon Tait's Olympic Torch Skype lesson. And, it could not have come at a better time! We have spent the week researching the history of the Olympics as well as reading about Winter Olympic sports in preparation for Sochi 2014. Today, Jon brought the Olympic torch "into" our classroom. After learning so much about the Olympics, my 1st graders were in awe of the "actual" torch!
Jon was such an engaging presenter! It can be difficult to keep the attention of 6 years old for an extended length of time. All of my students were completely enthralled with seeing the torch, hearing the details of Jon's experience, and asking him questions.
What a great experience for my class. Thanks again Jon!
Jon delivered an incredible presentation to our class, and the students could not have been more engaged and focused throughout the duration of the meeting. After the Skype was completed, the students kept talking about how much fun they had and how special it was to talk with someone who had accomplished something truly unique. Thank you so much, Jon!
Our school finally entered the Skype community, and we could not have asked for a better initiation! Jon Tait was fabulous! He was energetic and very interactive with our entire third grade. Our kids were so excited and we learned so much about the Olympic torch experience. I highly recommend Jon to any school or grade, especially now with the Winter Olympics upon us!Flag report
For the past two weeks, I have been working on various Winter Olympic research projects with my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes. We even decided to have our own version of the Olympic Torch relay here at school, and Jon's lesson tied in perfectly. We were so honored to have Jon visit just a few days before the 2014 Opening Ceremony. His presentation to our third graders was amazing! We prepared by visiting his blog which had several videos that gave the history and exciting examples of the torch relay, including his own journey. Jon also researched his visit with us, and we were amazed to hear that he has visited our part of the country - he's even been to a Patriots game! Needless to say, the students were engaged and excited throughout our time together, and Jon had a wonderful rapport with the students. I highly recommend this lesson to anyone learning about the Olympics ( and the next time the Olympic are held in the U.S., I hope I get to carry the torch!
I can't say enough about Jon and his presentation to my group of 6th grade students. He kept the kids so engaged the entire time to where we had to cut the Q&A session short because they had so many questions. We are on a block schedule and 2 days later they were still talking about this lesson and how wonderful, fun, educational, and engaging it was. We did a writing prompt for the post-Skype activity and my kids had some very descriptive writings about what it would be like if they were carrying the torch for the next Olympics.
I plan on setting another one up for next semester when I get a new group of 6th graders. Can't go wrong with this Skype lesson, I highly recommend it.
Jon did a wonderful job with my primary students. They learned so much about the torch and Jon even offered the opportunity for my students to virtually hold the torch. It was a true highlight. Thank you Jon for giving up your time to teach students through Skype.. I know my students will remember the moment of "holding" the torch.Flag report
This was a wonderful experience for my students. Jon was very prepared and was able to engage my students. They loved having the chance to see the torch and learn all about it. Thank you, Jon for sharing the history of the torch with us. We all loved it!Flag report
Jon's lesson was extremely captivating for my 5th grade students. Although it was almost the last day of school, my students were extremely engaged and had great questions. Jon's lesson not only covered his personal experience while carrying the torch, but he also gave a great history of the Olympic torch. All the adults in the room learned just as much as the students!
Jon was also kind enough to answer numerous questions and pose for pictures with the torch. Because of the time difference, Jon Skyped from home and even brought his two kids into the call so they could share their thoughts about their dad being an Olympic torch barer! We thoroughly enjoyed this Skype call and I would recommend others signing up for this unique experience!Flag report
Wow! Jon Tait's Skype session was incredible. Students, staff, and teachers were captivated the entire time. I have never seen such enthusiasm and engagement from students. It was truly amazing. Mr. Tait's lesson was beautifully balanced, serving as an educational lesson as well as inspirational. As my students prepare themselves for the Special Olympics, Mr. Tait inspired my students to fulfill the motto of Olympics: faster, higher, and stronger.
Incredible lesson and I highly recommend everyone take advantage of his wonderful talents! Your students are in for a fantastic treat!
Thank you so much for the honor,
An amazing experience for my 5th graders! They thoroughly enjoyed learning about the excitement of the torch carrying ceremony as well as discovering the interesting facts about the torch itself! We really appreciated our 40 minutes with Mr. Tait! Some quotes from the kids:

What an engaging presentation! From the moment Jon began his presentation, our students were on the edge of their seats intently listening. Jon's presentation of running the Olympic torch relay teaches students not only about history, but also about pride for one's country, passion, and leadership. Our students were full of questions, and Jon eagerly answered every one. The presentation was dynamic and interactive, which will excite kids of all ages. It was especially fun to see the torch he used and learn about what the torch symbolizes.
Jon presented to 180 7th graders at our school. We used our Skype group calling to split the students among different classrooms. He welcomed and superbly met the challenge we gave him! Jon is a great role model and a great teacher! He inspired many of our students!Flag report
Our students participated in this Skype lesson yesterday. It was a fabulous experience, and we loved how Jon was able to show our students that working hard and reaching for the stars everyday will definitely pay off as it did for him. The students are excited to now work on nominating their own torch runner for a future Olympics. Thanks for the experience, Jon!Flag report
