Australian Cultural Exchange!

About this Skype lesson

My grade one students (aged 6/7) are bursting to find out all about children in other places in the world. They are learning about different cultures in the world and how those cultures celebrate differently. They will also (of course) be facinated to share their life with other students and find out how their lives are generally different.

Our school hours are 9am - 3.15pm Monday to Friday.

We would be very keen to link up with other classrooms as soon as possible (it is now the first week of November).

Regards
Ms Juliet Taylor and Grade 1B

Good morning,
My name is Miss Frazier and I'm the computer teacher at a Catholic School in Chicago IL. My students were challenged to come up with an idea of how they could change the world. One group decided that they wanted to communicate with another classroom around the world, comparing culture experiences. Together we signed up for Skype and sought you out. Our hope is to have monthly on going conversation with you and then set up a website sharing our experiences with others. We hope this will help other schools to set up the same kind of experiences. Let me know if you are interested in helping us.
Sincerely,
Miss Amy Frazier

I would love to take part but I guess it is dependent on time difference. I am Mr Francis, Principal of a small school of 76 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are situated an hour's drive west of Sydney, Australia.
Would love to collaborate with an overseas school.

I would love to connect with you. Would you be interested in having your students write letters first to a class of 9-10 year olds as a language arts activity? I could have the class write back and then they could meet on the Skype call. We could do this right away, sending the letters in one large envelope to the school. I understand your students are a bit younger than mine, but I think it would be a great learning experience. I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks, Janet Parker
