Social Media Tools in Education

About this Skype lesson

I'm currently wondering how teachers are implementing different social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and Skype into their classrooms, and what exactly they are using them for?

Further to this, are there teachers using these tools to help students collaborate with each other in or outside the classroom?

Hello! Excellent topic.. I teach via the internet using both Skype and other classroom platforms. For the last year, I have been incorporating social media content into the development plans. They range from having to gather information from a Facebook page, watching a video or listening to something on Youtube, or participating in a group workshop in Skype. Through all of these mediums, the students are free to interact with each other in a neutral environment and it seems to be pretty cool!

I am putting together something geared specifically towards the 12 to 15 year-old range that will involve group discussions on foreign languages, science topics, and music.

I would love to know what you have going on along those lines.

Have a Fab day!

I am quite interested in this topic, since I am heavily involved with social media in education. For more info, please check our European project, www.web2learn.info.
