This was pretty amazing 45 minutes for all my students. They learnt a lot about Yellowstone, about geysers and wildlife there. The ranger was very informative and he kept attention of all my students, both to the ones of the age of 10 and the ones aged 18. They asked the ranger some questions, which was a special experience for them. Thank you for that great time.Flag report
Thank you so much for such a wonderful and truly educational experience. This Skype was the perfect tie in to our 4th graders geology and natural resources unit. They loved the experience and Love to tell visitors to our school about the experience.

This was an amazing opportunity for my students (most of which are English Language Learners) in Maryland to experience the American West. The wonderful park ranger brought the lesson to life with artifacts and pictures for the kids. We were even fortunate enough to have the lesson done outside with beautiful Yellowstone in the background. The students learned a lot and were very engaged. The park ranger had a lot of knowledge to share with the students at their level. This was a fantastic lesson!!Flag report
My 7th graders SKYPED with Ranger Mike on Friday, 10-24 and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for more information about Yellowstone. The invasive species part was particularly interesting. Sign up for the SKYPE...your kids will thank you!Flag report
Thank you for a very interesting talk about Yellowstone National Park today. The students thoroughly enjoyed it, even if most of them were a bit quiet. They thought it was well worth staying after class to listen to a park ranger.
A big THANK YOU to Ranger Mike for a great lesson!
My 5th and 7th graders were so excited after the session that they kept asking when I would organize another. Here is the blog post on our class blog about the Skype lesson - http://cegarvirtualclassroom.weebly.com/skype-guest-speakers-in-our-classroom/skype-chat-with-ranger-mike-from-yellowstone-national-park
Looking forward to another Skype lesson in the future.
All the best from Serbia
Thank you very much for this wonderful experience. The lesson was perfectly well prepared. The ranger was so nice and patient with my students' English and answered all their questions. Thank you again, I really hope to be able to do it once again in the future.Flag report
From the start our 4th graders were captivated by Park Ranger Tom the kids really enjoyed our Skype session. Ranger Tom did a great job of incorporating Social Studies and Science in this lesson. The students were impressed with the size of some of the animals and it was great that we were able to see a herd of Bison.
My students were able to ask questions to the Ranger who provided the class with much enhanced expertice about Yellowstone National Park. My students were very motivated to take this experience to the next level and chose various areas of research related to Yellowstone. Some will be going deeper into the human history and other into the geological history.
This is such a tremendously enriching experince for my classroom.
This was a fantastic introduction to Skype for us! This was our first Skype and it went extremely well. I love how much interaction the kids were able to have with Ranger Mike. The kids enjoyed the experience as well as the opportunity to ask questions. The lesson was very informative with a lot of different displays which held the attention of 8th graders! I loved it!Flag report
This was an amazing experience. The lessons were engaging and informative for our students. Ranger Mike and Ranger Cara were excellent. They had lots of information to share with our 3rd graders. I would highly recommend this Skype lesson for anyone. This was my first classroom experience using a Skype lesson and it went amazing! Wonderful information and wonderful people! THANK YOU!Flag report
Our kindergarten class was thrilled to Skype with Ranger Tom in Yellowstone National Park. We gave him a heads up on what we were studying, how animals adapt in changing seasons, and he came through wonderfully. The children LOVED it and didn't want the call to end.
I may have been the most excited during this call but many children went home to ask parents when they could go to Yellowstone themselves.
Ranger Tom said we might be able to Skype again, this time to watch Old Faithful erupt into the sky. Now how cool is that!
Our fifth grade class just Skyped with Ranger Christeal. It was terrific! She really engaged the students and asked them lots of questions to make them think. She discussed National Parks in general and how she became a ranger. She explained the special geological features at Yellowstone such as geysers, hot springs, and volcanoes. She discussed the animals at Yellowstone and how they all interact and depend on each other. She even had time for some questions from our students. It was a great experience! Thank you!Flag report
The ranger was very friendly and made the experience a lot of fun for the kids!
This was my first experience using Skype with my students and it was remarkably easy. I also believe it was extremely beneficial for my kids to talk to someone knowledgeable on animal adaptations. It made this science unit much more authentic for them. The kids all thanked me for arranging the Skype as they left at the end of the day.
We did this Skype last week with Ranger Mike and it was fantastic! I would highly recommend this program to ANYONE! He explained everything in kid friendly language, had all of my kids engaged and showed them tons of pictures! We Skyped with Beth yesterday. We had two 30 minute Skpye sessions with 3 classes of 4th graders in each session. It was very engaging and informative. Beth did an awesome job and was totally prepared with lots of props and pictures to show the children. Thank you BETH! The children are motivated to make presentations about what they learned in your session yesterday. Thanks!Flag report
Ranger Beth is an amazing educator. She skyped with our 2nd grade class and she was able to hold their attention completely! She talked about animals, nature and weather that is similar or different from Maine, she showed the class photos as well as real skulls of Wolves and Elk and Eagle talons, the students were thrilled by her presentation and I think she inspired them all to become a park ranger!!
